On Wednesday 12th June carers gathered at MAST Mayflower studios for a studio choir session lead by Musical Director, Will Pickering.

The session was for complete beginners (even those who think they can’t sing!) as well as more experienced singers. Carers rehearsed a repertoire of musical theatre numbers from hit shows Joseph and The Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat, Hairspray and Blood Brothers.

Lifting spirits

We learnt to sing in two-part harmonies and also learnt voice skills, breathing techniques and ways to warm up the voice without causing injury. Many carers find singing together in harmony lifts spirits, improves confidence and wellbeing and strengthens friendship networks amongst the carer community!
